"The World Behind" by Ben Elhav, Act 3 Bird Sequence

Merman Car Chase

A truck barrels around the quaint town swuare and towards Bay Street

A tail flips up in the water-filled trunk as the truck speeds by.

Sirens grow louder as a couple of police cars race after the truck.

The sirens blare repeatedly.

The sound intensifies

And decreases. We zoom out into the truck's interior.

Issac adjusts the rearview mirror to check on the merman.

The camera pans from the drivers seat...

to the makeshift aquarium in the trunk. The merman is worried.

We focus on him looking back as the cop cars grow louder.

The truck sharply turns off Bay street as the cop cars round the corner.

The camera swivels to follow the truck now zooming towards River Street

The camera pans up as the truck rushes towards the busy junction

We see a top-down view of the junction

The truck expertly skids between two lanes of traffic.

Multiple vehicles honk their horns as the truck zig-zags through

Issac yells to hold tight while drifting aggressively to the left towards the railing blocking the river path-the merman screams.

He quickly-

slams on the accelerator.

One of the cops is shocked and exclaims "what the-"!

The merman ducks into the water as the truck breaks through the brittle metal railing

We cut to a side shot of them in the air

We cut another 90 degrees to the front-

as the truck starts to fall forward!

A large crash is heard as the truck hits the ground after dropping ten feet.

It bounces up and zooms towards the camera.

We cut to the damage above on River Street.

The first cop pulls up.

She aggressively brakes-

And as the second car pulls up, yells in her walkie-talkie for reinforcements to circle around to the river-front.

Meanwhile the truck zooms down the ramp and turns into a tunnel.

The water bubbles-

And the merman pops out quickly, still looking terrified.

We zoom out as the merman asks if they're in the clear.

Issac shouts, "we're almost there!"

The truck exits the tunnel-

-and rapidly brakes by a small plaza at the riverfront.

"They're already back!" yells the merman. Sirens start to intensify again.

Issac jumps out. "I got you."

Issac opens the trunk and a small wave of water floods out.

He deftly lifts the merman into his arms.

They're both soaked and out-of-breath.

"Thanks for saving me again"

"I'd suck if I didn't right?"

"Now let's catch our final river ride," shouts Issac as he runs towards a steamboat that is actively undocking.

As the cops approach from the tunnel, Issac runs towards the edge of the marina-

and jumps with the merman in just the nick of time. The small loading-platform closes right behind them.

The steamboat is already fifteen feet out into the river as the cops brake by the water.

"See you never suckers," smirks Issac. "Adiós, vamos al mar!" cheers the merman. We fade to black as they sail into the sunset.
